After Ganapthi Homam, in the order of Ushappooja, Uchappooja and Athazhappooja, nivedyam is offered to Dhanwathari Bhagavaan in the name and star of the devotee, inciting Him by chanting Dhanwanthari manthras for his blessings to the devotee. The Nivedyams offered after abhishekam are malar nivedyam, vella nivedyam, pal payasam and ney payasam. It is highly auspicious to do it on every first Thursday of Malayalam month or on the birth star of the devotee for 11 months continuously for the welfare or ayurarogya saukyam of the devotee.
The temple patriarch the Thanthri will do this special pooja. Here Bhagavan blesses the devotee to fulfil his wishes after removing all the hindrances. This pooja starts from previous day’s athazhappooja to next day’s athazhappooja. After previous day’s athazappooja there will be abhishekam, malar nivedyam, ushappooja. Then there will be 18 special poojas and the 18th one will be uchappooja. During this time there will be panchagvyabhishekam, navabhishekam. In due course there will be ney payasam, pal payasm, vella nivedyam and saparivara nivedyam. Then there will be Sreebhuthabali to please the Bhootha ganangal, who are the protectors of the Bhagavan. After that there is Deeparadhana followed by athazappooja. Thus, the Udayastamana pooja ends and Bhagavan blesses the devotee for the fulfilment of all his wishes. Devotees will get avil and malar prasadams, pal payasm, ney payasam, thrumaduram and sadya etc. Simultaneous with the satisfaction of devotees, the Bhagavan also becomes strong.
This offering is to cure ailments such as body pain, swelling, rheumatism, and abscess etc. it is believed that the leech in the hands of Lord Dhanwanthari will suck all the bad things in the body and cure the ailments. It was a practice in olden days that our Ayurveda physicians used to use the leech to suck the impure blood from the abscesses to get it cured. Here we give special Dhanwantharam Kuzhambu with a silver leech for pooja. The priest chants the Dhanwanthari manthras and give it to the devotee. This kuzhambu is smeared wherever there is problem and drink a little bit as prasadam. It is believed that everything will get cured. Hundreds of people do this vazhipadu for curing their ailments.
This is also for body related ailments such as sprain, swelling, rheumatism etc. After anointing the deity with pure gingelly oil, this holy gingelly oil can be smeared wherever there is problem. It is believed that it will cure the ailments.
It is one of the holiest offerings to Lord Dhanwanthari. On every first Thursday of Malayalam months (called Mupattu Vyazham), there will be Mukudi. Some special Ayurveda medicines mixed with curd will be offered to Bhagavan and after special pooja this will be given to the devotees. It is great that this holy medicine is prepared under the supervision of Ashtavaidyan Thycattu Dr. P T N Vasudevan Mooss, the MD of SNA Oushadhasala and the chief patron of our temple. The temple starts giving the holy medicine by early morning at 7 am. Devotees have to drink it on empty stomach by chanting Sree Dhanwnathari Mantras. This will cure their ailments, especially stomach related ailments. Devotees come to temple without fail on every muppattu vyazham to experience it.
This is Bhagavan’s favourite prasadam. Devotees offer Palpayasam and Thulasi Mala for fulfilling their ambitions. It is highly auspicious if they offer it on the 11 Muppatu Vyazhams or every birthday of the devotee for 11 months continuously.
Ney Payasam Nivedhyam is a simple offering. It is believed that it acts as a very effective remedy to cure health problems that occur due to malefic and phlegmatic planets (khabham and pitha dosham). It is highly auspicious if they offer it for 11 Muppatu Vyazhams or every birthday of the devotee for 11 months continuously.
Kalabhabhishekham is a very important Special Puja for Sree Dhanwanthari. It is performed for the strengthening of the Chaithanya of the Deity and while offering Kalabhabhishekam devotee becomes a part of it by enjoying more prosperity and happiness in life.
This is a very important Vazhipadu and it is done for the over all ayurarogya saukyam of the devotee through out the year and for curing diseases like skin diseases and diseases caught due to hot climate.
Devotees offering these vazhipads to Bhagavan, can help fulfil their wishes and bring eternal blessingsfor his mental peace and absolution. All the chirads around the temple will be lighted and there will be special poojas in the name and birth star of the devotee during ushappooja, uchappooja and athazhappooja. Prasadam like avil, malar, palpayasam, neypayasam will be given to the devotee.
There are many other vazhipadus which can be offered depending upon the devotee and his adoration for different deities to help him to fulfil his wishes.
