Swarga Vathil Ekadasi or Vaikunda Ekadasi is an important festival of the temple during the Ekadasi day in the month of Dhanu. Devotees start fasting from Dasami and end it on Dwadasi, by taking only one meal on Dasami day onwards and refrains from eating or even drinking a sip of water on the day of Eakadasi. They engage themselves in meditations and prayers offering to Sree Mahavishnu. To liberate oneself from the continuous cycle of birth and death or get moksha devotees keep vigil on this night. The fast in broken on Dwadashi after offering prayers to the lord. In our temple the festival starts 10 days before the day of Ekadasi with many temple arts and special poojas like panchagvyabhishekam, navabhishekam. On the Ekadasi day after ushapooja and sree boothabali the deity (Thidambu) will be adulated outside on the tallest adorned elephant accompanied by 4 others. There will be paanchari melam under the leadership of Kizhkootthu Aniyan Maraar (Mela pramani of Thrissur Pooram, Paramekkavu side) for 2 ½ hrs along with his 100 eminent percussionists. Devotees enjoy the sweet music of Panchari rolling down from the chenda sticks of artists with ecstasy. At 6.30 pm there will be panchavadyam by 40 eminent percussionists up to 9.30 pm. This will be followed by pandimelam by 100 percussionists Infront of the Bhagavan on the elephants up to 12 midnight. Devotees fervently enjoy the wild music of Pandi rolling down from the chenda sticks of the artists. The festival ends next day with rituals and closing sanctum sanctorum and there will be Dwadasi oottu.
